Oxymels & Elixirs

Oxymels are one of my favorite ways to incorporate herbs into my daily diet. Raw, live apple cider vinegar & raw, local honey make up the base for my extractions. The herbal flavor comes out in the sweet & sourness of the oxymel. Not only are benefits received from the multidimensional herbal infusion but from the vinegar & magical raw honey. A great supplement for children & those avoiding alcohol.

Elixirs could be any variety of a potion; involving tinctures, infused honey, vinegar, infusions or decoctions. I form my elixirs based on the constituents I want to extract, the best solvent for those constituents, how delicious or medicinal can I want to make it & what my intuition is telling me. If you have any special interests or desired types of elixirs let me know. I’d love to prepare something for your individual needs!

Elderberry Syrup

Mmm. Who doesn’t love a sweet medicine with flavors of berries & subtle cinnamon. I like to combine three parts into my syrup; definitely a bit of a process but the end result is wonderful! First I infuse dried Elderberries in organic vodka for 1 month, then I do a gentle heated honey extraction of dried Elderberries & finally combine it with a flavorful, Vitamin C rich, Rosehip/Cinnamon water decoction. Elderberry is a tasty, antioxidant rich, immune tonic to support prevention & acute symptoms of illness. This syrup is delicious enough for folks of all ages. Elderberry can be taken before & during illness to help support symptoms. I love to take this syrup during cold as well as flu season & she has a special affinity for the lungs. A delightful medicine I would not go without in my herbal cabinet.

Chaga Elixir

Chaga mushroom has an extensive historical use in folk medicine. Known for it’s immune & potent antioxidant properties. Chaga’s medicinal power is partly found in beta-glucan polysaccarides. These constituents have been studied for their immunomodulating benefits. Chaga is an amazing ally for cell growth & overall wellness support. I start with an 8 hour local Honey infusion then use the mushroom marc for an 8 hour Water decoction. Alcohol is added at the end, just enough to preserve the elixir but not deteriorate the polysaccarides. Best used to keep the body strong during seasonal changes, along with cold & flu season.

Ingredients: Chaga (Inonotus obliquus) infused local Honey, Chaga water decoction & alcohol for preservation (25%).

Avoid in pregnancy & lactation. Use caution for folks with kidney stones; Chaga does contain oxalates.

Sold in 4 ounce amber glass bottles.
